$200 Funds an entire week of programming that tackles urgent social issues, giving a voice to the community and creating positive change.

$350 Covers critical utilities for an entire month, ensuring the station stays on air, providing access to vital information and connection in the community.

$550 Secures a station’s annual license, preventing its closure and ensuring the programming continues to serve those who need it most.

$1,500 Keeps the station running for one vital month, allowing it to continue broadcasting, offering support, and strengthening local voices.

Give Securities

Gifts of appreciated publicly traded securities that you have held for longer than 12 months allow you to claim a charitable deduction for the full market value of the securities on the date the gift is made while avoiding tax on the capital gain.

To make a gift of stock, contact Barbara Turman at barbara.turman@developingradio.org for securities gift instructions or speak to your financial advisor for details and provide them with her contact information.

Donor Advised Funds (DAF) or an Individual Retirement Account

Developing Radio Partners welcomes your gifts through Donor Advised Funds (DAF) or Individual Retirement Accounts (IRA).

A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a tax-smart strategy allowing individuals age 70 ½ and older to transfer up to $111,000 annually directly from an IRA to a qualified charity or charities. It is a good idea primarily because it lowers your tax bill while satisfying your Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs).

DRP's Mission

Developing Radio Partners (DRP) is a Malawi and U.S.-based nonprofit that collaborates with news outlets and civil society to transform lives through information. Our work changes lives and leads to sustainable progress through a decentralized model that focuses on strengthening local media operations, sharing data and evidence, and galvanizing communities into action. We strengthen democracy by building change-focused coalitions in each place we work, equipping local media to engage citizens and hold power to account.

We focus on communities excluded from mainstream narratives, opening space for voices often left out of public dialogue and enabling independent journalism that improves the health, livelihoods, and safety of all people.

Our partnerships have trained Indigenous peoples across Asia, Africa, and the Americas to share practices for resource and environmental stewardship; supported women and girls with actionable information about sexual and reproductive health; improved election coverage and voter registration; broken down harmful social and gender norms; driven increases in public health resources and funding; and elevated the stories of people living with disability, living in poverty, or facing marginalizing and illegal treatment. Across our programs, we help our partners become more operationally sustainable by teaching audience engagement, grant writing, and sponsorship models.

Communities know their needs. We provide the toolkit to meet them.
