Charles Rice

President and Chief Executive Officer

Chuck joined Developing Radio Partners in 2012. His background is in journalism, management and media development.  For more than 20 years, Chuck has managed numerous media projects for organizations that include Internews, the World Bank, and the International Center for Journalists. Most recently, he has worked in Kenya, Zambia, Rwanda, Malawi, and Somaliland.

He has taught practical journalism skills at TV stations and at the University of Hargeisa in Somaliland, conducted trainings across sub-Saharan Africa, northern and central Asia, as well as in the Caucasus. Chuck has lived in and worked on media projects in more than a dozen countries- including Timor-Leste, where he managed a two-year, five-million-dollar media development project. It included developing a four-year journalism degree program, establishing media houses around the country, assisted a community in setting up its own radio station, and establishing an online news agency. He has also designed monitoring and evaluation methods to ensure journalism training programs are effective and meet the needs of the trainees.

Chuck spent nearly 18 years as an award-winning journalist at The Associated Press before he moved into development work. In 2003, Chuck received a two-year Knight Fellowship. This took him to Mongolia to conduct training workshops with journalists at community radio stations, TV stations, and newspapers throughout the country. It also launched his career as an international media consultant.

Philanthropy Manager (I help donors give smarter)

Barbara leads the Developing Radio Partners’ philanthropy team to attract, engage and steward individuals and foundations to become lifelong supporters and champions of our mission.

As a fundraiser with more than twenty-nine years of experience, Barbara believes that when you invite someone to make a gift, you are inviting them to do something that brings them joy. It feels good to help, to make a difference, to be a part of something and to ensure people have opportunities and access to learning.

Prior to joining Developing Radio Partners, Barbara inspired impactful and transformative giving for education at Cornell University, St. Albans School, Rutgers University, and more.
