Current Projects
→ Climate Change in Five African Countries
Developing Radio Partners, in collaboration with the
Africa Climate Policy Centre, (ACPC), based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is to engage two stations from each of the five African regions in a yearlong climate change project, building upon a similar project in Zambia and Malawi. The first workshop starts in Addis Ababa in October 2012.
→ Nationwide Climate Change in Zambia
DRP will expand the climate change project nationwide in Zambia, engaging 15 local radio stations to give nationwide coverage. DRP will collaborate with
Zamcom, the journalism training center in Lusaka, the
Community Based Natural Resource Management, (CBNRM), the
Zambia National Farmers Union and other NGOs. DRP will provide weekly topic and production guides to stations, and provide funds to each station for community activities. We will provide training in the use of
FrontlineSMS to greatly increase the interactivity with listeners.
→ Training Journalists in Sierra Leone for Election Coverage
DRP consultant Terry FitzPatrick will return to Sierra Leone to work with the
Independent Radio Network to train journalists about voter education, how to organize debates and report on the elections through vote counting. Funding provided by the
Department for International Development of the UK through Search for Common Ground.
→ Healthy Station Training in Nigeria
DRP will provide our Healthy Station training to assist in developing six new community radio stations in the Niger Delta of Nigeria. The project is on hold as the Nigerian government has suspended awarding licenses for the time being. Funds are provided by the
European Commission through
Search for Common Ground, our in-country partner.
